The Pre-Masters in Science and Engineering prepares you for a choice of progression degrees at Durham University. You will join the programme for two or three terms, depending on your academic qualifications and level of English language.

You can choose from a range of postgraduate degrees to progress to when you complete this course.

There are two streams for this pre-masters programme:

  • Three terms programme course duration of 8 months (Sept and Jan intakes)
  • Two terms programme course duration of 6 months (Jan and April intakes)

Entry Requirements

Academic Requirements (General)

  • You need a good first degree or diploma in a relevant subject
  • You need a relevant degree or diploma

Academic Requirements (Country-Specific)

  • Hong Kong, SAR Recognised first degree, Higher Diploma (GPA 3+) or equivalent
  • India Recognised three or four year undergraduate degree (Honors or Regular pass)
  • Indonesia D3/D4 Diploma – A-4 excellent/ B-3 good
  • Malaysia Advanced Diploma 2.0 or recognised first degree or equivalent
  • Nepal Recognised first degree or equivalent
  • Taiwan Recognised first degree 2.0+
  • Thailand Recognised first degree GPA 2.3+ or equivalent
  • Vietnam Higher Diploma GPA 7.0 or recognised first degree GPA 6.5

English Language Requirement

  • Three terms programme Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.5 (5.5 in all skills)
  • Two terms programme  Academic IELTS for UKVI 6.0 (5.5 in all skills)
